Description: The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is a good sized, hearty breed who is devoted to their family and makes a great waterfowl hunter and a trusty guard dog. Considered a duck dog they have an extraordinary ability to remember where each bird falls and then will retrieves them all efficiently. A Chesapeake Bay Retriever has yellow-amber eyes, which is a unique characteristic to them. History: An American breed who was created from English stock. It is said the Chesapeake Bay Retriever descended from two shipwrecked Newfoundland dogs who were then bred to include spaniels, Indian dogs, pointers, setters and Irish Water Spaniels to produce a tireless hunter and guard dog. Their name comes from the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, USA.
